In 1892, F.W. Lindqvist and J.V. Svenson invented the world’s first soot-free kerosene stove in a small Stockholm workshop, naming it “Primus.” This innovative stove quickly gained a reputation for reliability and became the preferred choice for pioneering expeditions. Notable milestones include Roald Amundsen’s 1911 South Pole expedition and Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary’s historic Mount Everest summit in 1953.
In 1994, to meet growing demand, Primus opened a factory in Tartu, Estonia, maintaining a commitment to high-quality European production. Primus is one of the few stove manufacturers still producing in Europe, with an emphasis on in-house design, rigorous testing, and quality control. Every product is thoroughly tested to ensure reliability, making Primus stoves lifelong companions for outdoor enthusiasts.
