Polar Night Snowmobile Ride with Heated Sleigh

Relax in a comfy sleigh as your guide tows you through snowy forests and across frozen lakes, far from light pollution

Available on request

Settle into a heated Aurora sleigh and enjoy a smooth ride through snowy forests and across a frozen lake, gently towed by a snowmobile. The journey takes you away from light pollution, letting you experience the Arctic night while staying warm and comfortable.

Along the way, we take breaks to step outside, sit on soft reindeer hides, enjoy hot drinks and snacks, and watch the sky. With a bit of luck, the Northern Lights may appear, moving gently above the quiet winter landscape.

You can enhance the experience with an optional open-fire dinner. If chosen, the evening is divided into two parts, with a traditional meal served by the fire in a cosy Lappish tipi along the way.

For a deeper touch of Finnish tradition, you can also add a tent sauna experience, with the option of ice swimming to complete the night.

FAQ

Why choose the Polar Night Snowmobile Ride with Heated Sleigh?

This experience is perfect if you want to enjoy the Arctic night in comfort. You’ll travel through snowy forests and across frozen lakes in a heated sleigh, staying warm while your guide takes care of the driving. With minimal light pollution, quiet breaks under the open sky, and the option to add an open-fire dinner or a traditional sauna, it’s a relaxed and atmospheric way to experience the polar night and, with a bit of luck, the Northern Lights.

What if the Northern Lights don’t show up?

We can’t promise the Northern Lights every night – they are a natural phenomenon and depend on both solar activity and weather conditions. That said, we plan each trip using the latest forecasts and head to dark, low light-pollution locations to give you the best possible chance.

Is this tour suitable if I want to stay warm and comfortable?

Yes, the heated sleigh makes this a comfortable way to experience the Arctic night. However, depending on weather and snow conditions, there may be short periods of walking or standing in soft, wet or packed snow during stops. Warm, weather-appropriate clothing is still essential, especially proper winter boots, to make sure you stay comfortable and your feet don’t get wet.

What do I need to bring?

  • Warm clothing: Dress in weather-appropriate layers, including a warm hat, scarf, and good socks.
  • Phone or camera (and a power bank if needed) – Our guides are happy to share tips for capturing the Northern Lights.
  • Headlamp: If you have one, feel free to bring it along.
  • Snacks and water: Snacks are provided, but you’re welcome to pack your own favorites too.
