Polar Night Snowshoe Trek in Forest

Snowshoe through silent Arctic forests under the night sky

November–March

Step into the quiet of the polar night on a guided snowshoe trek through snowy forests and open winter terrain. Before heading out, we closely monitor cloud cover and aurora forecasts to choose the best possible locations for the evening.

Depending on snow conditions, you’ll use either traditional snowshoes or modern gliding snowshoes, allowing for a smooth and enjoyable pace through the landscape. As we move through the forest, your guide points out animal tracks in the snow and shares insights into Arctic wildlife and winter life.

Far from light pollution, the open sky offers a chance to see the Northern Lights when conditions allow. On clear nights, the star-filled sky can be just as impressive. Along the way, warm drinks and small snacks are served to keep everyone comfortable in the winter night.

You can also choose to extend the experience by combining your evening snowshoe trek with an open-fire dinner or a relaxing tent sauna with the option of ice swimming.

FAQ

Do I need prior experience with snowshoeing?

Not at all! Your guide will show you how to use the snowshoes, and the pace is relaxed, making this trek suitable for beginners.

How physically demanding is the snowshoe trek?

The trek is moderate and done at an easy pace, with breaks along the way. We adjust the route and distance to suit the group and snow conditions, making it an enjoyable experience rather than a strenuous workout.

Why choose the Polar Night Snowshoe Trek?

This trek is a fun and easy way to explore the Arctic winter landscape after dark. Snowshoes let you move freely over deep snow without sinking, making walking in the forest smooth and enjoyable. With a relaxed pace, warm drinks along the way, and no prior experience needed, it’s an active but playful way to connect with nature.

What if the Northern Lights don’t show up?

We can’t promise the Northern Lights every night – they are a natural phenomenon and depend on both solar activity and weather conditions. That said, we plan each trip using the latest forecasts and head to dark, low light-pollution locations to give you the best possible chance.
