Spend a day in Inari discovering Sámi culture and northern traditions through authentic local encounters. This experience is combining culture, light activity, and a lake cruise in a relaxed and well-balanced way.
The day begins with a visit to the Sámi Museum Siida, awarded European Museum of the Year 2024. The exhibitions offer a clear and engaging introduction to Sámi history, culture, and Arctic nature. In summer, you can also explore the outdoor museum area, where nearly fifty sites present traditional ways of life and the surrounding environment.
After the museum, we head out for a short hike to a lakeside kota, where we prepare and enjoy an open-fire lunch together. It’s a simple and enjoyable moment in nature, with time to relax before the afternoon continues.
In the afternoon, we head to the harbor and board an electric-hybrid catamaran for a cruise on Lake Inari. This is an easy and comfortable way to experience one of the largest Arctic wilderness lakes in Northern Lapland, with its thousands of islands and open landscapes.
During the cruise, we pass by Ukko Island (Ukonkivi), a significant Sámi sacred site rising from the lake. The island has long been used for offerings and holds deep cultural meaning.
This experience offers a well-rounded introduction to Inari, combining culture, nature, and local stories in one day.
