Traditional Fishing Day and Open-fire Lunch

Try hands-on fishing and enjoy a local lunch by a beautiful lakeside setting

May–October

Spend a day by a remote lake in Northern Lapland, combining traditional fishing with time outdoors in a calm natural setting. This experience is about slowing down, learning fishing techniques, and enjoying the surroundings.

After arrival, you'll be provided with all the necessary fishing equipment, including a fishing rod, bait, and a fishing permit. The experienced guide will then take you out onto the lake, where you'll have the chance to catch fish such as pike, perch, and trout.

The pace of the day is easygoing, leaving time to enjoy the landscape and the rhythm of fishing. The guide will be on hand to offer tips and advice on how to catch the perfect fish.

During the day, we gather around an open fire to prepare and enjoy a traditional lunch made with locally sourced ingredients. It’s a chance to take a break, share stories, and learn more about life and fishing traditions in the north.

After lunch, you can continue fishing or take a short walk along the lakeshore before heading back.

This experience is suitable for all ages and offers a simple, authentic way to spend time in nature and try traditional fishing techniques.

FAQ

What if we don’t catch any fish?

Fishing always depends on nature, so a catch can’t be guaranteed. However, there’s no need to worry. Your guide is prepared and brings locally sourced fish to ensure we can still prepare and enjoy a proper meal together. This way, you’ll get the full experience of handling and cooking fish over an open fire, regardless of the day’s catch.

Do I need prior fishing experience?

No prior experience is needed. Your guide will show you the basics, and you’ll get support throughout the day. The experience is designed to be easy and enjoyable for beginners.

What kind of fish can we catch?

Depending on the lake and conditions, you may catch species such as pike, perch, or trout. The exact catch varies, but the focus is on learning and enjoying the experience.
