Spend a day in Tankavaara combining local history with time outdoors. This experience offers a balanced mix of culture, hands-on learning, and light activity in nature.
The day begins at the Gold Museum, where a guided visit introduces you to the region’s gold rush history and life of prospectors in the north. You’ll also have the chance to try gold panning yourself, using traditional techniques – and with a bit of luck, you might even find a small piece to take home.
After the museum visit, it’s time to enjoy a traditional Lappish lunch and take a break before heading out again.
In the afternoon, the experience continues with a guided hike through the surrounding wilderness. Moving on foot, you’ll explore the landscape at a relaxed pace and get a closer feel for the nature of the area.
This full-day experience is suitable for all ages and offers a well-rounded introduction to Lapland, combining culture, activity, and time outdoors.
