Private Arctic Tent Sauna Experience with Ice Swimming

Experience Finnish sauna culture with a refreshing dip in icy water

November–April

Book a private tent sauna experience in a peaceful natural setting at Rahajärvi. This is a simple and authentic way to enjoy a traditional Finnish sauna, whether you’re visiting as a couple, family, or small group.

The tent sauna offers a warm and relaxed environment, with space for up to eight guests. Additional tents can be arranged to accommodate even larger groups for example company events.

The sauna is reserved exclusively for your group for approximately 1.5 hours, giving you time to enjoy the heat at your own pace. An ice hole is prepared in advance for those who want to try ice swimming as part of the experience.

Facilities include access to hot showers and a toilet, offering comfort while still staying close to nature.

Enhance your sauna experience with drinks and light snacks by adding optional catering – after the heat, you’ll likely feel both thirsty and ready for a bite. The sauna can also be combined with other activities before or after your session, depending on your plans.

Whether it’s a special occasion or simply a moment to step away from the everyday, this private tent sauna experience offers a memorable way to slow down and enjoy time together in nature.

FAQ

Who is ice swimming suitable for?

Ice swimming is suitable for most healthy adults who are comfortable with cold exposure. However, ice swimming is not recommended for people with serious heart conditions or certain medical issues. If you are pregnant or have any health concerns, please consult your doctor before exposing yourself to significant temperature changes. As always, participation is optional, and you can enjoy the sauna without entering the water.

Are there health benefits to ice swimming?

Many people find ice swimming refreshing and energizing. The contrast between hot and cold can help improve circulation and leave you feeling alert and relaxed at the same time. That said, it’s always a personal choice, and you should listen to your own comfort level and medical condition.

How does a traditional Finnish sauna work?

In a Finnish sauna, the idea is to heat up, cool down, and repeat at your own pace. You sit in the warm sauna, relax, and let your body heat up gradually. The temperature is adjusted by throwing water onto the hot stones, creating steam known as löyly. If you wish, you can step outside to cool off or try a quick dip in cold water before returning to the sauna. There is no strict routine – the experience is about finding your own rhythm.

Is this experience suitable if I’ve never been to a sauna before?

Yes. No previous sauna or ice swimming experience is needed. Your guide will explain how everything works and make sure you feel comfortable throughout the session.
