Backcountry Ski Tour

A guided backcountry ski tour, the traditional Finnish way to explore snowy forests and varied winter terrain

November–April

Head out on a guided backcountry skiing trip through snowy forests and varied terrain. This experience is all about enjoying movement in nature, whether you prefer a relaxed pace or feel like picking up a bit more speed along the way.

Backcountry skis make it easy to move across the snow, turning the landscape into your playground. Skiing is a fun and rewarding way to explore the winter environment, from forest sections to more open areas where the scenery opens up around you.

Along the way, your guide will share insights into the winter landscape, including animal tracks and signs of wildlife you might come across. The route is adapted to the group and snow conditions, making each trip slightly different.

The skiing will work up an appetite, and a well-earned lunch is included as part of the experience.

Whether you are new to backcountry skiing or already have some experience, this trip offers a great mix of light adventure, fresh air, and time outdoors in a truly Nordic setting.

FAQ

Can beginners join this skiing trip?

Yes. No prior experience is required. Your guide will show you the basics before setting off, and the route and pace are adapted to the group. The focus is on enjoying the experience rather than technical performance.

What is backcountry skiing?

Backcountry skiing is a way of moving on skis outside prepared tracks, across natural winter terrain. It combines gentle uphill and downhill sections and allows you to explore areas that are otherwise difficult to reach in winter.

What is the difference between Nordic cross-country skiing and backcountry skiing?

This tour uses backcountry skis designed for natural terrain, not prepared tracks. Instead of following set routes, you move freely through forests and open areas, making the experience more about exploration than technique.
