Welcome to the Arctic Circle, and even further north, where you can experience the true magic of Lapland’s nature. Begin your holiday by exploring Rovaniemi’s main attractions with your guide, and at the end of the day, we’ll take you to your accommodation in Ivalo. During your stay, you’ll enjoy not only Northern Lights excursions but also a wide range of activities that connect you with Lapland’s nature and culture.
What to Expect
Highlights of the trip include a guided introduction to Rovaniemi, the largest city in Europe by area, where the cityscape reflects the vision of renowned Finnish functionalist architect Alvar Aalto. Here, you can visit the Arktikum Science Centre or immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere of Santa Claus Village, depending on your travel group’s interests.
From Rovaniemi, you’ll continue north to Ivalo, where you’ll discover the award-winning Siida Museum and delve into the culture and history of the Sámi, the Indigenous people of Lapland. A visit to a local reindeer farm offers insight into the importance of reindeer herding in the North and the chance to meet these iconic Arctic animals up close. Even if Rovaniemi is one of Europe’s most magical Christmas destinations, the same Nordic, enchanting atmosphere continues in Ivalo – we can arrange a meeting with Santa during your stay.
This week-long journey gives you the best opportunity to witness the most spectacular Northern Lights of your life. Admire the scenery on a snowshoe hike, feel the thrill of speed on a snowmobile, and savor a meal made from fish you’ve caught yourself. In the evenings, it’s the perfect time to chase the Northern Lights and unwind in the comforting warmth of a sauna after a day spent in the winter outdoors.
