Dried Trumpet Chanterelle Mushroom (Cantharellus tubaeformis) are suitable for cooking, whether you are making soup, pasta sauce or casserole dishes. Collected from Central Finland in the Saarijärvi area.
The Trumpet Chanterelle is shaped like a funnel or horn, as the name implies. It's a fairly small mushroom. It has a brown cap with a yellowish or grey tint to it. Its stem is hollow, slim, and yellow in color. On the undersurface of the cap, it has long, gill-like, decurrent ridges of a yellowish grey color.
The nutritional value of the mushrooms is preserved by freezing, but the flavor may be diminished. Of course, they can be fried as they are, frozen, or pickled. Trumpet Chanterelles contain a lot of vitamin D. Eating them in the winter is a natural way to boost vitamin D levels.
