Anfibio Sigma TXL Packraft

The long-awaited update to the well-known Anfibio Sigma features extra-large TubeBags (luggage compartments in tubes) and 20 cm more internal length. As a result, L stands for Long and XL stands for Extralarge. The letter T stands for Team. The flexible positioning of the front seat and the variable fixing of the second backrest are intriguing features. As a result, the boat can be used as both a fast single (with a central seating position) and a classic double.

Configuration and Equipment

The Sigma TXL combines touring functionality with backpacking weight. It has enough space for two people with an inside length of 180 cm. Paddled as a single, it is relatively fast and true to track with an outer length of 280 cm. Otherwise, the tube diameter of 27 cm keeps it compact. The lower panels of the bow and stern segments are made of reinforced floor material, as is customary for a Sigma.

Seating System.

The boat includes a variable seating system with a freely movable block seat and an adjustable comfort backrest/belt, as well as an additional rear seat with a backrest.

When used as a single, with a seat in the central seating position, the bow and stern symmetry of the boat is similar to that of a conventional kayak, as are its paddling characteristics. The block seat and backrest can be adjusted independently to accommodate paddlers of various sizes.

In addition to the TubeBags, the Sigma TXL has luggage storage behind the central seat. To make room in the back for a partner, the central seat and backrest can be easily moved forward, and additional space can be fitted with the Anfibio WideSeat (included).

TubeBags

As standard, the Anfibio Sigma TXL comes with extra large Anfibio TubeBags. Two centrally located, IPX7 waterproof luggage zips with directly backed, airtight internal pockets (100 litres each). As a result, the luggage compartment and the main air chamber form two distinct air spaces. Because of the construction, the zips do not need to be airtight in order to perform their function. Even slightly (!) opening the system keeps it operational. As a result, it is extremely resistant to dirt and wear:

• Luggage is automatically positioned and secured to prevent slipping.
• The transport inside ensures a low center of gravity, moisture protection, and wind resistance.
• The boat's transport capacity has been significantly increased.

Floor Mat (optional)

The Sigma TXL comes with an optional inflatable floor mat. It stiffens the bottom of the hull, insulates against cold and wet, and raises the seating position. Paddling comfort, handling characteristics, packraft range of use, and control are all improved.

Please keep in mind that, in conjunction with the floor mat, we recommend the Anfibio FoamSeat or the Anfibio PackSeat (light) for the frontseat and the Anfibio PackSeat (with back rest) for the backseat. The Anfibio Wideseat, which comes standard, is too close to the floor.

Material

The Anfbio Sigma TXL is made of a special fabric (210/420 urethane nylon) that, despite its light weight, has a high tear and abrasion resistance. The tube's coating's smooth and shiny surface is particularly scratch resistant. All of the seams on the boat are fully welded, and the tube seams are also sewn, resulting in a completely glue-free construction. This reduces weight, costs, and pollution! We offer a 3-year warranty on materials and workmanship. The reinforced lower front and rear tube segments with floor fabric panels ensure even greater robustness when in contact with the ground. However, as an ultralight boat, it should be treated with caution, especially when fully loaded.

Use

The use is heavily influenced by whether it is used as a single or double.

As a single, the relatively long shape is ideal for long distances on calm waters, possibly with a lot of luggage (or child/dog). However, depending on ability, the second white-water grade can also be easily mastered. The packing size and weight (3,5 kg) are adequate for backpacking but not ultralight.

The use of two in white water is not recommended because the buoyancy of the 27 cm tubes is insufficient (especially without spraydeck). On the other hand, the relatively light format (3,5 kg) makes classic packrafting tours (combined land and water tours) with partners and luggage a pleasure:

• River cruising
• Trekking that includes river sections
• Trolling
• Geocaching (multi-caches, level 5)
• Sailboat (dinghy)
• Expeditions and adventure races

The boat is paddled by a single person using a double paddle. Canoeing is also an option for two people (e.g. with a multipaddle).

The boat is paddled similarly to a kayak or canoe and is inflated with a large nylon inflation bag that attaches to the boat via a screw-in valve.

Carbon footprint

Since 2018, all Anfibio Packrafts produced have been carbon offset through selected climate protection projects.
